Adoption Process & Application

(occasionally exceptions are made, based on vet history & experience)

 -We are a very small group and cannot field phone calls.  Please understand most of our time is spent caring for our dogs while managing full time jobs and family. An application must be submitted and approved before connecting by telephone-

-GSRNY Rescue offers a personal touch.  We work very hard to save, nurture and care for the lives of each and every dog we take into our program, so in turn, our application process is careful, and thorough.  

-We make it our mission to find our dogs the very best possible match, based on their needs, behavior, temperament and energy level, and consider heavily the wants, needs, experience and limitations of the adopters wanting a dog.  

-Returning a mismatched dog is painful and confusing for the dog, and painful for our team.  Seeing the dog suffer the consequences of another loss and being uprooted again is unfair to the dog. 

-We ask that you are ready and prepared for this commitment, for the lifetime 

of the dog.

-We seek responsible and loving adopters, who are willing to take the time to find the right match, and put their "all" into settling and training their new family member. 

-We understand our adoption process may not be for everyone, and encourage people to seek out their local shelters-

  Help us learn more about you, your family, and your lifestyle.  We ask that in addition to your application, you also include:

- Pictures of yourself, family & other pets

- Please include a couple photos of the inside and outside of your home.  Due to COVID, a physical home check by one of our Representatives may not be possible. DUE TO COVID CONCERNS, IN PLACE OF HOME VISITS, EXTENDED PHONE INTERVIEWS AND PICTURES/VIDEOS OF THE HOME ARE REQUIRED.  

-PLEASE FILL OUT YOUR APPLICATION WITH AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE-

-AND SUBMITT YOUR NON-REFUNDABLE $20 APPLICATION FEE-

Please understand, we cannot process incomplete applications and 

will NOT notify you.  

Fully completed, detailed applications, will be processed in a timely manner, and you can expect to hear from GSRNY within 1 to 2 weeks of submitting your application.  

The dogs keep us very busy.  We often have rescue missions and emergencies that we need to handle. If you do not hear back within a week, please email us again to check in.  

  Your $20 donation goes directly towards the care of our dogs and is non-refundable and not dependent on an adoption.

$550 GENERAL DONATION FOR ADULTS 

Seniors are based on each dog, and in special cases, no cost and GSRNY contributes various item donations.  

$20. Non-Refundable Application Processing Donation Fee.

(Separate from adoption fee)

The application donation helps our dogs and mission, regardless of an adoption. 

 Our application & adoption donation fees help us continue to save dogs and puppies from Euthanasia lists. Our medical and rescue missions far exceed the adoption fee donations.  Since GSRNY opened it's doors, our amazing adopters have helped us continue our mission not only with their donations, but loving our dogs and giving them amazing lives, which in turn gives us strength to keep doing the endless, difficult work we do to save the lives of these 

deserving dogs!
