Meet our staff member Murphy. Sweet, calm with a touch of sass. and super friendly to all!
We treasure our little fearless dog tester helper!
**UPDATE: We are devastated to announce that Oliver lost his battle. We gave him all of our love and our vet team gave him the very best care. Goodbye sweet boy. We were honored to love you in your short time with us, and we are sorry that humans failed you and that we couldn't get to you soon enough to save you. Run free with the rest of our pack in heaven little one, till we meet again**
GSRNY’s reach is far and wide, to those most in need. In honor of the loss of my beloved cat Leonardo, GSRNY’s dog tester and therapy cat, another special little life has been saved. "No" wasn’t an option for this guy.
Welcome Oliver Twist to GSRNY.
Oliver has had such a terrible, neglected, horrible 4-5 years of life. Repeated captures with long stays at the shelter due to the need of veterinary care, then reluctantly returned to the irresponsible owner ..multiple times!
Each time his body condition worsened and multiple painful health issues, including horribly painful skin, sores, open wounds, animal attacks, and most recently, hit by a car and a badly broken back leg, which needed amputation.
Obviously, the shelter washed their hands of the “owner”. Humane euthanasia would’ve been kinder at this point (sadly!!!)
We couldn’t stand by, especially with his life now being at risk (with no owner to return to/and no space at the shelter), and word that he was shutting down and depressed. He deserves so much better.
Now safe within GSRNY’s wings, Oliver’s suffering will end. He will get everything he needs and more.
I know many of us dog and German Shepherd owners have and love our own cats. We need to help when and where help is most desperately needed.
You will be missed
